Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) Cases Reported in India

Recent reports indicate that two infants in India have tested positive for the Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), a virus known to cause respiratory infections. These cases were identified in Bengaluru and Ahmedabad. While HMPV typically leads to mild, cold-like symptoms, it can result in severe illness in vulnerable populations. The Indian Union Health Ministry has stated that there is no connection between these cases and the recent surge of respiratory illnesses in China.

Health Minister Addresses HMPV Concerns

Union Health Minister JP Nadda has addressed concerns regarding the recent HMPV cases in India, emphasizing that the virus is not new and that there is no reason for alarm. He assured the public that the health ministry is monitoring the situation closely and that necessary precautions are being taken to prevent any potential outbreak.
